RADIOLOGY
SERVICES
The Radiology Department at CEVET is available for referral outpatient ultrasounds-abdomen, neck, thorax (non-cardiac), and musculoskeletal, ultrasound-guided sampling (ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration, Tru-cut biopsies, etc.), and CT exams by appointment only Monday-Friday 8:30am-11am.

It is important for patients to ideally be fasted overnight the night before their scheduled diagnostic exam. Exceptions for diabetic patients and juvenile patients who cannot maintain their blood glucose.
Your Pet’s First Visit
Upon arriving at CEVET, you will be greeted by our reception staff, who will assist you with your pet’s registration using the Patient Information Form. It is important to bring your referral letter, any current medications, and copies of laboratory results provided by your primary veterinarian.

One of Dr. Alas’s assistants will escort you to an exam room and ask important questions about completing your pet’s medical history.
For outpatient CT exams, general anesthesia will be needed, and all recent bloodwork, physical exam findings, and pertinent medical history/current medications the pet is receiving will be beneficial for a safe and efficient CT examination under general anesthesia.

Most ultrasonographic exams are done without sedation. For patients who require sedation for an ultrasound, please specify in the referral form. If the patient undergoes ultrasound-guided biopsy, this procedure is performed under deep sedation/general anesthesia, and recent baseline bloodwork (CBC/chemistry/electrolytes) and coagulation profile are required for safe sampling.
If a surgical emergency is detected during ultrasound or CT examination, a phone consultation with the referring veterinarian will be performed to determine if the patient will have the surgery done at their hospital or if the primary care veterinarian requests surgical consultation at CEVET. All ultrasonographic and CT studies will have a radiology report generated the same day the study was performed, and all acquired images and the radiology report will be emailed to the primary care veterinarian at the email on file at CEVET, unless requested to send to a different email.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out, and we will be glad to answer them or address any concerns.
